christian borle is the new michael stoyanov [people]

here's the deal: i've always had a thing for christian borle. ever since i saw him in legally blonde i was like, "this dude is for me." he turned out two of my favorite performances of the past few years in angels in america and peter and the starcatcher. and the fact that i get to see him as tom on smash each week only makes me love him more and more.

but i could never really pinpoint why. i mean, he's got that ugly cute thing going on, which i kind of dig. and it doesn't hurt that his voice is bangin'. and he's super nice in person. but there was something else. something that drew me to him. something that i couldn't quite put my finger on.

and then it totally hit me: christian borle is totally the new michael stoyanov.

do you guys remember michael stoyanov? he played the older brother on blossom? anthony "tony" russo? the one who was a recovering drug addict and alcoholic, but was also a paramedic? and then married that chick in las vegas when he was off the wagon and got her pregnant? sure, he was no joey lawrence (whoa). but i always had a thing for tony. he was the badass brother. the rebel. the outcast. but he was reforming his ways and trying to be better. i remember really rooting for him. and i guess during that time, i sort of developed a thing for that sort of aesthetic.

don't they resemble one another? i mean, lock up borle as tony in the dreamcast of blossom: the musical now. no one else could play him!
